Introduction

Hello! My name is Krishauna, and I’m a masters-level counseling intern under the direct supervision of Christina Janiga. I provide reduced-rate counseling services for adolescents aged 16 and up, and adults who are looking for some support with concerns relating to ADHD, anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship struggles, as well as emotion regulation, including anger management. With the support and guidance from my professors and my supervisor Christina, I am able to provide you with a well-rounded counseling approach in which my fresh perspective as a student will be combined with the knowledge and expertise of experienced mental health professionals!

What to expect in our reduced rate counselling for ADHD, anxiety, and trauma

When it comes to what our sessions will look like, I offer an eclectic therapy experience. I operate from a person-centered approach in which I strive to meet my clients where they are at. I also mix in some more skills-based approaches such as solution-focused therapy and cognitive-behavioural therapy. With this eclectic approach to therapy, your unique needs can be addressed. Providing you with a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space is of the utmost importance as a mental health professional, and equipping you with the tools necessary to help make impactful and long-lasting changes in your life is my primary goal.

My personal, and work, experiences with mental health

When I was young, a loved one of mine passed away and this was an incredibly difficult experience for my family. A family member of mine who struggled with their grief sought support in the form of psychotherapy and counselling and it was at this time that I learned what therapy really ‘was’ and was able to understand the benefits and impacts it could have on someone’s healing journey.

It wasn’t until I was older that I started to consider psychotherapy and counseling as a career option for myself. Throughout my time working in the hospitality industry, I interacted a lot with different people and I was exposed to the different challenges that people face in their life such as ADHD, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and emotional struggles. While working in this field, I was told by others that my presence, thoughts and support were really helpful. This opened my eyes to the kind of impact I could have on someone’s life and it really ignited my passion to be able to help others navigate whatever life circumstances they may be going through.

I have experience with mentoring youth in underprivileged areas of the GTA and I have supported adolescents facing socioeconomic challenges and family struggles. These experiences, coupled with my experiences working in the hospitality industry, have helped me develop skills that are crucial to the field of psychotherapy and counselling such as fostering connection and trust with others, and being able to create safe and empathetic spaces.

Feeling ready to reach out for support with ADHD, anxiety, and trauma?

Starting therapy whether it’s for your first time or not, can be exciting. At times it can also be nerve wracking especially when you’re reaching out for unknown factors and symptoms such as ADHD, anxiety, trauma, depression, or relationship challenges. This is normal, and quite frankly, expected!

Therapy is a space that can bring about hope, improvement, and self-discovery, while also helping you uncover old narratives and connecting with deep emotions that allow for healing. Essentially, therapy is a self-commitment to bettering yourself, and you won’t have to do it alone.

I am accepting new clients and I provide free, 30 minute consultations to all new clients so that we can get to know one another and we can determine how I can be of best support for you.
